BOOK REVIEW: Machine Sickness by Peri Worrell

Libertarian author peri worrell

What happens when a scientist creates something believing it will better the world, but instead it causes a worldwide catastrophe? This is what Peri Worrell explores in her novel “Machine Sickness”.

With precise details of microbiology, we are introduced to a whole new concept of a lab created bacteria. But this bacteria does the unexpected, and things quickly start to go wrong. And it’s spreading.

We follow a few main characters as they discover the severity of the problem, and its widespread effects. National governments believe it to be caused by terrorists, and cannot imagine it was done by accident.

Without electricity, internet, or even functioning gas powered vehicles, the United States descends into an apocalyptic state. Government “protection” camps are established to secure the populace, while bands of looters and vigilantes run wild outside the camps.

But not all is dark and hopeless. There are still good people who want to rebuild the world, and they do not need the government to do it.

This is the first installment of the Eupocalypse trilogy, and it’s clear there is more story to tell in the next two books.
