Book Review: One October Night

Have you ever looked at a sketch and thought it conveyed much more than a picture? What was the context surrounding this drawing? What emotions came with it? What story was it telling you?

This is what Sam Robb wanted to find out. In his book “One October Night”, Sam and Cedar take on this challenge to find the story within a sketch. And not just once. They made a deal to make one per day for every 31 days in the month of October. Cedar would draw a sketch, and, that same evening, Sam would write a short story about it.

Each sketch by Cedar Sanderson is imaginative and wildly different. Some are playful and some are serious. And Sam Robb’s accompanying short stories are just as varied. He explores a list of genres and tones that keep you guessing.

Each of the 31 stories are a little glimpse into a strange world, and many times leaving the reader wanting to know so much more about the characters and what happens next. There is sci-fi, fantasy, and so much more! There is a lot to enjoy among these picture-inspired tales!

Sam Robb is a libertarian and a fiction author. Find this book and others by him on Amazon!
